A new addition to the family (Sega 32X)

The latest addition to my console collection arrived today — a brand new, still in the box, complete, unopened Sega 32X. I was an SNES guy back in the 16-bit days, and it’s really only recently that I’ve come to love the Genesis, too. There’s really a lot of good stuff hidden beneath the mountains of old sports games!
But anyhow, my point here is that I’m exploring more of the Genesis era, so I recently purchased an X’Eye, and now I have the 32X. With all that in tow, I now have access to the entire Genesis/CD/32X library. Now I just need to get some 32X games, and more than one Sega CD game!
Man I love the 32x, what an underrated console. To start with you, need Virtua Racing, best game on the system by a mile. I would also recommend Knuckles Chaotix, a solid platformer. Other titles I would get are Blackthorne (Blizzard, ‘nough said), Zaxxon’s Motherbase 2000 (interesting shmup), Shadow Squadron (3D space shooter), and Tempo (platformer). Nice purchase!
For as bad a reputation as the 32X has, I actually have a pretty long “want” list. Tempo, Kolibri, Knuckles Chaotix, and Blackthorne are at the top, followed closely by Star Wars Arcade, Shadow Squadron, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing, Space Harrier, and After Burner. I’ll have to check out Zaxxon, too! And for some masochistic reason, I’m really tempted into getting a Sega CD/32X game or two… Maybe Night Trap? :)
Kolibri isn’t worth the price of admission and isn’t terrible fun to play. It is fun to look at though, gorgeous graphics. I’ve also tried to play Space Harrier but can’t get into it. If it had some sort of continue feature like After Burner does, it might have helped. As is, I don’t have the patience to constantly die without any real progress. The first boss is cool though. And it shows off how well those SH-2’s can manipulate sprites. Ugh… too bad the 32x-CD titles are all FMV…
